The Ingredients

  • Half a banana (soft if possible): Bananas are packed with vitamins and minerals that hydrate and nourish the skin. They are rich in potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6, all of which help to maintain the skin's elasticity and moisture content.
  • 2 teaspoons of honey: Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin, keeping it hydrated and glowing. It's also packed with antioxidants, which help to protect the skin from damage and reduce the signs of ageing.
  • 2 drops of Lavender essential oil: Lavender is soothing and calming, perfect for sensitive or dry skin. It helps to reduce redness, blotchy patches, and acne scarring. Plus, its calming scent can help to reduce stress and promote relaxation.
  • 2 drops of Grapefruit essential oil: Grapefruit is invigorating and has brightening properties. It helps to even out skin tone and adds a fresh, citrusy scent that can uplift your mood.
  • 2 drops of Benzoin essential oil: Benzoin is known for its healing and soothing properties, great for dry skin. It helps to reduce inflammation and can aid in the healing of minor cuts and scrapes.
  • How to make the beautiful aromatherapy skincare recipe

    1. Mash the banana in a bowl until it’s nice and smooth. The softer the banana, the easier it will be to mash into a smooth consistency.
    2. Add the honey and mix well. The honey will act as a binding agent, making the mixture easy to apply to your face.
    3. Drop in the essential oils and give it a good stir until everything is well combined. Make sure the oils are evenly distributed to ensure each application is effective.

How to use the beautiful aromatherapy skincare recipe

  • Massage the mixture into your face and neck using gentle, circular motions. This not only helps to spread the mask evenly, but also stimulates blood circulation, which can enhance the mask’s benefits.
  • Let it sit for 20 minutes. During this time, you can pamper your clients with a lovely hand, head, or foot massage. Or, if you’re treating yourself, just sit back and relax! Maybe put on your favourite relaxing music or practice some deep breathing exercises.
  • Remove the mask with damp towels. Be gentle to avoid irritating your skin.
  • Cleanse your skin with warm, damp facecloths using a blend of the same essential oils. This will help to remove any residue and leave your skin feeling fresh and clean.
  • Tone with Rosewater or Witch Hazel for that extra refreshing touch. Toning helps to close your pores and prepare your skin for moisturizer.
  • Important Cautions

    • Pregnant women should avoid using Lavender essential oil. Always consult with a healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy.
    • Grapefruit essential oil can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, so avoid sun exposure or sunbeds for at least 48 hours after use. This can help to prevent photosensitivity reactions, which can cause redness, itching, or blistering.
    • Lavender essential oil should not be used by pregnant women.
    • Sweet Almond Oil should not be used by anyone with a nut allergy. Always do a patch test before using any new products on your skin.

Spreading the Word and Increasing Your Bookings

This facemask is not only a treat for the skin, but also a fantastic way to enhance your treatments.

    • Make your usual 60 minute into 90 minute deluxe treatments. You could include a neck and shoulder massage too if you like. Clients love feeling pampered and are usually willing to pay a little extra for that special touch.
    • Get the word out on social media. Short videos (less than a minute) of you preparing the facemask, talking about its benefits, or showing the glowing results can grab attention. People love seeing behind-the-scenes content and learning new tips and tricks.
    • Create engaging posts or reels explaining the benefits and the upgrade option. Use before-and-after photos, testimonials and detailed descriptions to show how they'd benefit from the treatments in terms of skin rejuvenation and relaxation.
    • Feature it on your website, both on the front page and the treatment page. Make it easy for clients to see this new offering and understand its benefits.
    • Send a short text or email to your clients highlighting the benefits and the new upgrade option. A personalised message can make clients feel special and more inclined to book an appointment.
