Making Bath Bombs

Removing the bath bombs

Basic Recipe

Makes 3 bath bombs

Dry ingredients

3/4 cup 36 teaspoons) Cornflour/Bread soda

(or a mix of both)

1/4 cup (12 teaspoons) Epsom salts

1/4 cup (12 teaspoons) Citric acid

Wet ingredients

1teaspoon (5ml) Water/floral water/cold herbal tea/witch hazel

2 teaspoons (10ml) Vegetable oil (options below)

a drop or tow of food colouring (optional but pretty)

Essential oils 10 to 12 drops of essential oils (options below)

Other Options

Makes the bath bombs pretty and add therapeutic properties

Dried lavender flowers

Dried rose petals

Herbal tea (some have lovely leaves & flowers)




Bath bomb molds or muffin tin


Mix the dry ingredients together

Mix the wet ingredients together

Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients until the mixture is the consistency of damp sand

Pack into molds or a muffin tins.

Leave for 24 hours

Tap the molds to release the bombs. 

If stuck slide a knife around the edge and gently ease the bomb out. 

Sleepy Bombs

Grapefruit, Lavender and Benzoin essential oils.

Any vegetable oils

Stress Ease Bombs

Bergamot, Lavender & Ylang Ylang essential oils.

Any vegetable oils

Muscle Ease Bombs

Lemon, Lavender and Benzoin essential oils.

Castor oil, extra virgin olive oil & sweet almond oil. Use a mix of all 3, a mix of 2 or just one. 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in total. 

Pamper Bombs

Rose, Grapefruit and Lavender essential oils.

Vegetable oils: Sweet Almond or Avocado oil. A mix of 2 or just one. 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in total.
