Household Cleaners

Extra recipes

The essential oils in the recipes are suggestions only. Feel free to experiment with different oils.

Bread soda is a natural cleaner and deodoriser. It helps to eliminate other odours but surprisingly it make the aroma of essential oils more powerful.

General Household Cleaner

4 drops Lemon essential oil

4 drops Peppermint essential oil

4 drops Lavender essential oil

Add to approx half a litre of water and store in a dark glass bottle. 

Add to water when washing the floors and windows.

Use to wipe down counter tops.

Oven Cleaner

1 drop Orange essential oil

1 drop Cypress essential oil

1 cup bread soda

Water to mix to a paste

Gradually add the water to the bread soda until you have a paste. Add the essential oils and mix well.

Apply to the oven and leave for an hour. Wipe off with soapy water. Repeat if necessary.

Microwave Freshener

1 drop Lemon essential oil

Small bowl or cup of water.

Put in microwave and turn on high for 1 minute.

Any unpleasant lingering odours will be eliminated.

Fridge/Bin Freshener

1 drop Orange essential oil

1 drop Eucalyptus essential oil

An egg cup or other small container of bread soda.

Add the essential oils to the bread soda and place in the fridge or under the bin bag in the bin.

"Natural Freebreeze"

1 drop Cypress essential oil

1 drop Orange essential oil

1 drop Lavender essential oil

Spray bottle of water.

Add the oils to the water and spray around cappets and soft furnishings.

Don't store the oils in a plastic bottle, store in a dark glass bottle or just make enough for one use.

"Natural Shake 'n Vac"

1 drop Cypress essential oil

1 drop Orange essential oil

1 drop Lavender essential oil

Add the essential oils to the bread soda. Shake on the carpets and leave for 20 to 30 minutes then hoover as normal.
