What Makes Sweet Almond Oil So Special?
1. Painkilling and Anti-inflammatory
Helps ease sore muscles, stiff joints, and general aches.
Has a lovely glide for massage—easy to work with.
2. Hydrating & Soothing for the Skin
Softens and hydrates dry, sensitive, and irritated skin.
Brilliant for eczema, sunburn, itchy skin, and inflammation.
Full of vitamin E and antioxidants, which help the skin recover and feel calm.
3. Good for Circulation & Lymph Flow
Helps the body clear out waste products and keep everything moving nicely—great in reflexology or deep massage.
Important Caution: Nut Allergies
Sweet Almond Oil comes from almonds, so it shouldn’t be used on anyone with a nut allergy. If you’re making products with Sweet Almond Oil, clearly label them—even if you know the client, they might pass it on to someone else.
How to Use Sweet Almond Oil for massage and skincare
1. Luxury Skin-Nourishing Blend
One of my favourite upgrades is a mix of Sweet Almond Oil and Avocado Oil. It feels incredible and makes a great add-on for facials, body massage, or hand and foot work.
Blend: 50% Sweet Almond Oil + 50% Avocado Oil.
Sweet Almond Oil brings the glide and softness, and Avocado Oil adds that deep, rich hydration. It’s a real treat for the skin.
How to offer it:
When a client books, you can simply say, “Would you like to add a skin-nourishing oil blend for €10–15 extra?”
You can also share about it on social or list it as an upgrade option on your website.
2. Facial Rejuvenation & Soothing Irritated Skin
Thanks to the vitamin E and antioxidants, Sweet Almond Oil helps soften fine lines and give skin a lovely glow.
It’s one of the oils I use in the Five Oil Facial, which clients absolutely love.
3. Hair & Scalp Care - Nourishing treatments with Sweet Almond Oil
Great for dry scalps and brittle hair.
You can warm the oil slightly and use it as a scalp mask—wrap the head in a warm towel and let it soak in while you carry out the rest of the treatment.
If you're leaving the oil on the hair after the treatment, (it's so much better for the hair to leave it on overnight or even for a few hours if possible) advise the client to put shampoo into dry hair then add the water. If they wet the hair first, the oil is almost impossible to remove.
A hair and scalp treatment is lovely as an extra with Indian Head Massage, reflexology, or full body treatments.
4. Nail & Cuticle Massage with
Use Sweet Almond Oil during hand and foot treatments to condition the nails and cuticles.
Ideal as a little relaxing add-on during reflexology, massage, or even facials.
My favourite cocktail of natural vegetable oils
This is one of my favourite blends to use when a client has aches and pains:
50% Sweet Almond Oil (easy to work with)
25% Extra Virgin Olive Oil (great for inflammation)
25% Castor Oil (also soothing and healing for the skin)
Each oil is individually painkilling, anti-inflammatory and very nourishing for the skin, and they enhance each other. I use half Sweet Almond Oil and a quarter of each of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Castor Oil because Sweet Almond Oil is lighter and easier to work with while the others are quite thick and sticky.
This mix is lovely for massage, particularly when there is deep tension.
